Is the blog really “social media,” or just another form of broadcast?

Mitch Joel posted a thoughtful blog this week about the role of conversation in social media. You can read it here. I suggest you do. I’ll wait for you right here. (more…)

It’s about more than The Almighty Me…

Please indulge me as I divert from my usual content stream this week.  But I sense a disturbance in The Force… (more…)

On Baseball and Business and the Simple Pleasures of Uni-tasking…

Friday, April 9th, 2010

I’ll admit it.  I cut out of work a bit early Monday.  As I write this from my little home office in Cleveland (home of the May snowstorm), I’m looking out upon a bit of snow or sleet or something similarly unpleasant as it cascades from slate-gray skies.  There are many reasons to love Cleveland, believe it or not.  The weather is not one of them. Ok, I’m back.  Sorry for the extended absence, but I’ve been busy!   :)

I usually use this space to wax prolific about marketing communications, often as they relate to the mortgage and title industry.  But today, I’m going to focus on communications in general.  (more…)

I’m not one of the biggest Jack Welch fans in the world.  Maybe it’s because I don’t have an MBA.  But I tend to believe his patented Six Sigma approach (in and of itself a respectable philosophy or approach) has been warped, perverted and distorted to little more than a buzzword in many business cultures.  It’s not his fault, but it’s what I know about him.  Sorry Jack.  (more…)

It’s not the size of your business…

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Ok.  I’ve been told I need catchier headlines.  Hope this works.

Sorry I’m a little late this week.  I spent some time in Las Vegas for a title industry conference.  While I was there, I was struck by how many new, small businesses are springing up in the mortgage and title industry.  (more…)

Here we go…

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Well, here we go. It may be the Seventh Sign of impending Apocalypse, or it just might be a sign of progress. Either way, I now have a blog. (more…)
